The ZLL SG700 MAX 4K Dual Camera 5G WIFI FPV Drone w/ GPS (hereinafter, probably just called the SG700) is a mid-sized (365mm sq. x 70mm H), surprisingly light (184.40g {6.51 oz.}) drone that features GPS stabilisation, a rechargeable 2S (two cell) 2,000mAh Li:Po (lithium polymer) flight battery, and the ability to tilt the camera's lens over a 65° range -- from pointing forward up to pointing forward & down (65° from horizontal).

This isn't a flashlight, household lamp, Christmas light set, or other thing that glows, but it *DOES* have a quartet of remarkably potent LEDs on its pylons (propeller arms), so what the hey.

I love things that fly; that's why I took the bate and also why I added a seperate section titled "PRODUCTS DESIGNED TO FLY" on my website a number of years ago and created a new website a couple of years or so ago specifically for flying machines of this nature!!! I was also attracted to something that this drone has that many others don't...
optical flow sensor; this allows the drone to stay stable in the air even when GPS isn't present -- such as when flying indoors.
  • 6: It has folding pylons (arms) and propellers; this makes the SG700 easier to store and transport.

  • The SG700 is in the lower-end of being HOBBY GRADE, rather than just being another run-of-the-mill pisson toy grade drone.
It sports BRUSHLESS motors that deliver incredible amounts of power and have a far longer useable lifetime than their brushed counterparts.

It sports a 4K camera with a 5.8GHz transmitter to furnish a live video feed to the app; both still photos and aerial video can be taken with it!

The SG700 has a cheap, flimsy feel to it like many products of, "Hoo Phlung Pu" origin so often do.

     size

This quadcopter is a bit more complicated to get it to take off than your average toy-grade drone...here's how to get it off the ground:

As with any rechargeable product, charge the drone AND the radio first, and then you can pretend to fly a large dragonfly (well, that's what kitty cats would think it was if it were designed to be flown in a small living room -- you CAN fly it indoors, but you'll want a decent amount of space such an empty two-car garage at minimum!)

First off, load the app called, "
Rx Drone" (the Android version from Google Play or the iOS version from the Apple App Store) onto your 5G WiFi cellular telephone handset.

1: Unfold the pylons (arms). Place the drone on the ground.
Press and hold the POWER button on the drone (it's located on the top of the drone's fuselage) for several seconds until all of the lights come on and the drone starts to emit a short series of tones.

2: Then turn the radio on by unfolding the right-hand side of the cell phone holder.

3: Go into your phone's WiFi settings, and connect the one named
    HF GPS5G {string of letters and numbers}.
    Then launch the app.

4: At this point, you'll need to perform a geomagnetic calibration of the drone. Press and hold the innermost shoulder button on the left shoulder of the radio for at least three seconds, and then release it.
The two red lights on the drone will turn off. Spin the drone horizonally two or three times until the red lights turn back on and the green lights extinguish. Turn the drone so that its camera faces the ground, and spin it several more times (until all four lights on the drone's pylons come on). Place the drone on the ground again.

When all of the drone's LEDs turn steady-on and stay that way, you're ready to take off.

Pull both joysticks downward and outward to start the motors at idle speed. Now, push up on the left stick or press the Auto Takeoff button on the remote near the lower left corner, and the drone should now blast off and possibly leave an expanding cloud of dust (if you launched in a dry, dusty area anyway).
    Congratulations, you're now a pilot!!!

For additional instructions & tips on how to fly, please read the instructional material that comes with the product.

On the remote control, remove your FPV device, and fold the cell phone holder arms in. This will neutralise the radio.
On the drone, press & hold the "OFF/ON" button for a couple of seconds (until all of the lights have extinguished), and then release it. This should neutralise the drone.

Fold everything up, place the items back into their form-fitting compartments inside the case (the radio goes near the top of the case; the drone fits near the bottom of the case), zip the case up, and go on your merry way.

You can fly the SG700 strictly-dictly LOS (Line Of Sight) -- no FPV device is necessary even for preflight calibration.

The battery in the SG700 AND the radio are rechargeable.

To charge the Li:Po battery in the SG700, remove the battery from the drone (slide the battery in the direction of the arrows on the battery {using the arrows themselves to help your fingers grip it} until it stops, lift the battery out of the drone's body from the rear), and plug the furnished charge cable into any free USB receptacle on your Pee-Cee or Mac computer.

Plug the smaller end of the USB cord into the female MicroUSB receptacle on the side of the top of the battery itself.

You should see a red LED inside the battery near where you plugged it up. When this light turns off, the charge cycle is complete and the battery may safely be unplugged from the charger.

Fully charging the SG700's battery should give you approx. 28 minutes of flying time (I have been getting nine to ten minute flight times).

To charge the Li:Po battery in the radio, plug the furnished charge cable into any free USB receptacle on your Pee-Cee or Mac computer.

Plug the smaller end of the USB cord into the female MicroUSB receptacle on the back of the radio.

You should see a red LED on the front of the radio.
When this light turns off, the charge cycle is complete and the radio may safely be unplugged from the charger.

This R/C drone is meant to be used as a toy in a large dry area outdoors or a large indoor venue, not as a flashlight meant to be carried around all the time, thrashed, trashed, bashed, and abused; so I won't throw it against the wall, stomp on it, viciously chuck it at one of those wall-mounted porcelain uranators to see if it becomes broken (the drone, not the uranator!), try to drown it in the {vulgar slang term for a fudge bunny}bowl or the cistern, run over it, swing it against the concrete floor of a patio, bash it open to check it for candiosity, fire it from the cannoñata (I guess I've been watching the TV program "Viva Piñata" too much again - candiosity is usually checked with a scanner-type device on a platform with a large readout, with a handheld wand that Langston Lickatoad uses, or with a pack-of-cards-sized device that Fergy Fudgehog uses; and the cannoñata is only used to shoot piñatas to piñata parties away from picturesque Piñata Island), send it to the Daystrom Institute for additional analyses, launch it into the upper atmosphere of Gamalon V** so that chairman Sonji gets all bent out of shape about it, or inflict upon it punishments that I might inflict upon a flashlight.

This drone has foldable pylons (arms) and folding props; this makes transport and storage a whole lot easier.

    BigDroneFlyer1964 likeeeeey!!!

The drone uses 2.4GHz RF radiation to communicate with its radio, and its camera uses 5.8GHz (802.11ac or just 5G WiFi) to relay its photographic and videographic data back to your smartphone or tablet.

I just love the living tweedle out of the carrying case! Everything (and I do mean
***EVERYTHING***) that the SG700 comes with fits neatly into cutouts in the foam for them (or into the noncloseable pocket on the inside the lid of the case -- which is great if you wish to bring along another flight battery or two or three): the drone itself, the transmitter, all spare props, and charger cord).

However, the foam inside the case feels a bit flimsy, so I'm uncertain as to how long it will hold up.

The mobile phone holder on the radio can accomodate handsets up to
86.60mm (3.26") wide and because of it's twin-boom design, your phone cannot be shorter than 121.20mm (47.70") long (tall) (measured from the center of each clip) or else it simply won't fit.

Battery life is reduced by approx. two minutes when I affix my HeiyRC DST-01 RGW Universal Drone Strobe Light to the drone.
This unit has a measured weight of 10.10g (0.349 oz.) and is known to impact battery life of this drone by the above mentioned time. So I only affix it to the drone for flying after sunset, night, and before sunrise.

ALL OF THE FLIGHT VIDEOS ARE ON THEIR OWN WEB PAGE
SO THAT THIS EVAL. WOULD NOT BECOME TOO CUMBERSOME!!!

On a low-altitude flight that I made on 01-12-22, the drone started toliet bowling approx. one minute after launch, crashed into the low-hanging branches of a nearby pine tree, fell, RECOVERED, hit the branches again, and then plummeted to earth.

For reasons as-of-yet unknowm, my FPV device (an Apple Ipad Mini 4) failed to save this video or the one I made on 01-11-22.

Photograph of the radio (transmitter) in its feral state.

Photograph of the radio (transmitter) for this drone with a cellular telephone handset clipped into place.

Photograph of the underside of the drone to show you the second camera (used for the optical flow positioning system and can also be used for photographic purposes).

This photograph shows a red diode laser at 657.60nm being fired near the camera.
Note the graininess of the overall photograph; this tells me at once that the camera will perform quite badly at night or low ambient light situations.

    TEST NOTES:
Test unit was purchased on the Geekbuying.com website on 12-30-2021 and was received at 8:55am PST on 01-11-2021.

    Drone does not EIS.
Drone does not have a gimbal.
Drone has a strong tendency for toliet bowling (moving in an ever-enlarging circle with no inputs to the radio)
Drone's camera performs exceptionally poorly in low-light situations.
Only one battery was provided, not two like my order was for.

On the plus side, it DOES have brushless motors and GPS.
If this drone does have any saving graces, these are it.

    UPDATE: 01-22-22
On a flight that I made on 01-21-22, the drone experienced (in what's known in the hobby as) a fly-away, in which it ignored all inputs from the radio and flew away until I lost VLOS of it. :-(

After dark, I went back to the vicinity of where I last saw the drone and looked for its remarkably potent red & green pylon (propeller arm) lights, and came back empty.

Therefore, the dreadful, "" icon must be appended to its listings on this website.

I didn't have this drone for very long, didn't I?
Looks like I had it for only ten (10) days. :-(

    UPDATE: 01-24-22
The web store that I purchased this drone from (www.geekbuying.com) has offered me a $30.00 remuneration for the loss of the drone; I graciously accepted the offer.
They in no way HAD to do this; they offered to do so; and I applaud them for this!!!
