I know it's early-November, but what flashaholic could resist testing Christmas lights, no matter what time of year?

This is a set of six color-changing LED Christmas lights. Each large globe has a flat-face multi-die LED in it; they are advertised to have a "chaser" effect to them.

The set operates from an AC adapter; decorate with them as you would ordinary Christmas light sets.

SIZE

This light set is ready to use right out of the box. Plug the short cord into any standard (United States anyway) 110 to 130 volts AC 60Hz two- or three-slot receptacle.

Decorate with these lights the same way you would decorate with other Christmas lights. Hang them on the front of the fireplace mantle, hang them in a window, put them in your Christmas tree, etc., or just hang the suckers off your dorm room ceiling for that special holiday feeling all year 'round.

This product is designed to be AC powered, so I do not need to tell you how to change batteries.

The AC plug is polarised, meaning one blade is wider than the other.

This light set is meant to be used as a decorative light set in a dry area, not as a flashlight meant to be carried around, thrashed, and abused, so I won't try to drown them in the toilet tank, bash them against a steel rod or against the concrete floor of a patio, let my housemate's citty kats

go to the litterbox on them, run over them with a 450lb Celebrity motorised wheelchair, or perform other indecencies on them that a regular flashlight might have to have performed on them. So this section of the web page will be significantly more bare than this section of the web page on a page about a flashlight.

They are advertised as being "for indoor use only", so it's highly likely they aren't very water- or weather-resistant.

They are also advertised as "chasing", but when I removed them from the box and laid them out sequentially, no chasing effect was observed. Not even close.

Pretty? Yes.
Chasing? No.

The "hump" visible in all of these spectra are from other LEDs in the same enclosure ("globe"); the dwell time of each color is insufficient to obtain spectra without these "humps".

I found out the hard way that the globes are made of glass

- several of them became broken when the light set fell while I was attempting to hang them in a window a few moments ago this evening (7:39pm PST 12-04-06).

I liked these lights so much that I purchased another set of them a short time ago this morning. I believe I paid $6.99 for them, so I got more "bang for my buck" this time around - that is - they were on sale.

I'll probably hang these across my room rather than in a window, so if they do fall, they'll land on plush carpeting and not become broken like the set last night did (two of the bulbs hit the tops of glass insulators in my windowsill and got busted that way).

One of the globes busted while hanging them up the other day...I offer this as proof so you'll know that I'm not just yaking your chain:

UPDATE: 08-26-11
I threw all of the glass bulbs (both the busted and unbroken) ones in the garbage can, but kept the string with the actual LEDs on it.
Needless to say, I probably won't be decorating with this set any longer.

PROS:
Very pretty to look at
Uses LEDs so they're cool-running and easy on your power bill

CONS:
Advertised as "chasing" when nothing could be farther from the truth
Very fragile glass bulbs that could rather easily become busted
